The Program
Sixty feet up and 50 feet out, with a knuckle in the middle. The 600AJ brings articulating up-and-over reach to the same height class as the telescopic 600S, but the machine works entirely differently on the job. The lower boom raises and the upper section articulates over the obstacle to place the platform on the far side. For jobs with structural complications at height, that articulation is the whole reason to choose the 600AJ over the straight-boom alternative.
The machine runs a diesel engine in standard configuration and 4WD rough-terrain tires. It weighs around 31,000 pounds, which is in the same range as the 660SJ telescopic, and it similarly fits on a standard lowboy for most state transport situations. Platform capacity is 500 pounds restricted and 1,000 pounds unrestricted. Two workers with a modest tool load is a normal crew for this platform.
Used 600AJ units trade in a wide band. Clean low-hour machines can approach $90,000 to $110,000. Mid-hour units somewhere in the $55k–$80k band are common. High-hour machines can fall below $50,000, though those are right at our funding floor and depend on condition. We fund from $50,000 on up, short-doc to about $400,000, B and C credit welcome, roughly two weeks to close. Recent bank statements and the one-page app is what most deals require.
The 600AJ's articulating knuckle sits between the lower and upper boom sections. The lower boom raises to clear the obstacle; the upper section bends over it; the platform settles into position behind or above whatever was in the way. The operator can position the platform in places a straight 60-foot boom simply cannot reach without driving the machine to a completely different setup point.
Platform height of 60 feet, working height to 66 feet. Horizontal outreach of 50 feet. The up-and-over capability adds working access at positions that extend beyond the stated horizontal outreach of the base configuration. Jib options on certain 600AJ configurations add another layer of articulation above the upper boom, pushing the working envelope further into complicated geometries.
The machine handles well on rough outdoor terrain, which is why it competes directly with the telescopic 600S on commercial job sites rather than being limited to indoor applications. Crews doing exterior work on mid-rise buildings often prefer the 600AJ when the building's facade geometry, overhangs, or mechanical equipment creates access complications that the straight boom cannot solve without repositioning.
Mechanical and HVAC contractors use the 600AJ for rooftop equipment over parapets. Electrical contractors running conduit above structural steel on industrial and commercial jobs value the up-and-over access it provides at 60 feet.
The short application captures the business basics: company name, EIN, time in business, the machine being purchased, and the amount. Attach recent operating bank statements showing the deposit activity for the past quarter. For deals under about $400,000, that is the complete documentation package. No tax returns, no personal financial statements unless the credit picture requires them.
B and C credit is welcome. A score in the 580 to 650 range with consistent monthly deposits in the business account presents a fundable picture. We look at the six-month trend in the bank statements as much as the score: flat or declining deposits alongside a weak score tells a different story than strong growing deposits with the same score.
Time in business matters. A business with two or more years of operating history funds more easily than a startup. For businesses under two years old, we have options but the structure may require a larger down payment or a co-borrower. Bad credit boom lift financing is a separate track for buyers who have had credit challenges and need a more structured approach to getting approved.
The 600AJ competes with the Genie Z-60 as the two most widely recognized 60-foot articulating booms in the North American market. Both are stocked by major rental yards and both appear frequently in the private-sale and dealer-certified-used market. The 600AJ's prevalence in the rental fleet means used units are not hard to find, which is relevant for buyers hunting for a specific price point.
Parts availability for the 600AJ is good because the machine has been in production for many years and is widely supported by JLG dealers and independent JLG technicians. That service network is a practical advantage over rarer machines when something needs attention.
Rental demand for 60-foot articulating booms is steady across commercial construction markets. A rental yard that finances a 600AJ at a reasonable ticket can typically generate enough monthly rental revenue to cover the payment with meaningful margin. That makes the 600AJ one of the more financially straightforward machines in our portfolio from a unit-economics standpoint.
The JLG boom lift lineup covers articulating models from 45 feet through the 1250AJP at the top of the articulating range. The 600AJ is the core mid-range model in that lineup, and it funds through our program on the same terms as any other JLG.
The JLG 450AJ is the step below: 45 feet of platform height, lighter and more maneuverable, available in electric for indoor work. If 60 feet is more than the job requires, the 450AJ lowers the cost and the weight class. If you need more height with articulation, the JLG 800AJ extends to 80 feet of platform height and carries the same knuckle-plus-jib format up the height spectrum.
For buyers comparing the 600AJ against the telescopic option at the same height, the JLG 600S provides more horizontal outreach at 60 feet but no articulation. The choice between them depends entirely on the geometry of the jobs the machine will run.
App and three months of statements is the whole package under $400k. Answer in about a day, keys in roughly two weeks. B and C credit welcome. New, used, private-party, or fleet purchase.
Common Questions
What is the real difference between financing a 600AJ versus a 600S? Does articulating cost more to borrow on?
Financing terms on the 600AJ and 600S are based on price and credit profile, not on the lift type. An articulating boom that prices similarly to a telescopic will carry similar payment structures. The articulating format does not carry a penalty or premium in the underwriting.
Can I buy a 600AJ from a rental company's fleet sale?
Yes. Fleet sales from rental companies are some of the cleanest private-party transactions we see. The machines have documented service history and are typically priced to sell. We fund fleet-sale purchases the same as any other transaction.
I need the 600AJ for a specific project that ends in eight months. Is there a short-term lease option?
Leases of less than 24 months are less common but not impossible. A 12-month lease carries a higher monthly payment because the amortization is compressed. For project-specific use, renting may actually be more cost-effective than a short-term finance. We can model the comparison for you.
Can I finance the 600AJ along with a telehandler and a scissor lift in one deal?
Multi-machine packages can often be structured as one transaction if the machines are being purchased at the same time. The combined amount determines whether it stays short-doc or requires additional documentation. We handle fleet packages regularly.
Does the machine need to be insured before funding closes?
Yes. Lenders require physical damage insurance naming the lender as loss payee before funding. This is standard on any equipment loan or lease. Your general liability insurer or a specialist in construction equipment can add the machine to your policy quickly.
